Lived To Tell The Tale

Woot ! It took me until the second to last day of the Paralympics, but I finally was able to get to the line up for the Robson Street Zip Line when it wasn't 4 1/2 hours long . I got up early, grabbed the newspapers, a couple of sausage mcmuffins and a large cup of coffee and arrived 2/12 hours before it opened and was the 10th person in line . it was a beautiful morning and the people in line with me were all really nice and by the time I ate brekky, did the crosswords and chatted a bit, it was time to go . This isn't me or my zip, but it best recreates the experience of the Zip Line. i'm so glad i went . it was so fun . i now have to go do their runs up in Whistler

OMG OMG OMG I Almost Forgot About The Mooscars !!

Holy Crap ! The Mooscars are tonight ! . I thought they were next weekend . this year's post is going to have to be very brief and unlike last year's, lets hope that my choices better reflect that other award show this evening...............................

Best Costume Design - ummmmmm, I only saw one of the nominees in this category, so the Mooscar goes too..........The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus

Best Animated Feature - all good niminees this year . you should see all of them, but this Mooscar goes to.............Fantastic Mr Fox

Best Makeup - again I only saw one of these nominees , so this Mooscar goes to.........Star Trek

Best Visual Effects - I saw all three of these and how can this Mooscar not go to........... Avatar

Best Art Direction - when you watch a terry gilliam movie, you cant help but notice all the detail in the backgrounds. even when the movie isn't all that great . This Mooscar goes to.......The Imaginarium of Dr Parnassus

Best Visual Effects - as cool looking as Star Trek and District 9 were, there was one movie that still blew them away . this Mooscar goes to...........Avatar

Best Actor in a Supporting Role - all good performances, but i think i"m going to have to go with the herd here. This Mooscar goes to...........Christopher Waltz
in Inglourious Basterds

Best Actress in a Supporting Role - sure this may be just a vote powered by lust, but i honestly thought her performance was the most vital. This Mooscar goes to..........Vera Farmiga in Up In The Air

Best Adapted Screenplay - theres some great writing here, but one script stood way above the others for me . This Mooscar goes to...........Precious: Based on the Novel Push by Sapphire

Best Sound Editing - all the nominees are good here, but i'm going to give this movie a little love . this Mooscar goes to.........Star Trek

Best Sound Mixing - here is a nother good movie that deserves a little love. this \Mooscar goes to...........The Hurt Locker

Best Actress in a Leading Role - I only saw two of these movies and Julie & Julia wasn't really Mooscar worthy . The best acting performance is saw and the Mooscar goes to............Gabourey Sidibe in Precious:Based on the Novel Push By Sapphire

Best Film Editing - this one is a tough one to choose, but i think I'll choose the one that developed the suspense. This Mooscar goes to........The Hurt Locker

Best Cinematography - this is a tough one too . my first reaction is do i give the award to something computer generated or do you stay purist and give it to something photographic . in the end I'll go with the best visuals that i saw, however they made it to my retinas . this Mooscar goes to..........Avatar

Best Original Score - there really isnt one that really stuck in my mind this year, so when in doubt, go with Wes Anderson. this Mooscar goes to........... Fantastic Mr Fox

Best Song - i didn't see any of these films so I'm just going to cheer for any song that is not another same old same old randy newman animated movie song

Best Original Screenplay - i didn't have to think about this one for more than a second . this Mooscar goes to.........Up

Best Actor in a Leading Role - another tough category i only saw 4 of these and of them i thought Morgan Freeman as Mandela was great, but I'm gonna go off the board and give my vote to the movie i didn't see, cuz i just have a sense that this is the correct choice. This Mooscar goes to.............Jeff Bridges in Crazy heart

Best Director - now normally I won't split up best director and best film . i normally award them jointly as this is how it ought to be 99.9% of the time . this year however is that .1% . for the sheer technical and visual innovation and the marshalling of armies of animators, programmers and artists and not screwing it all up, this Mooscar goes to..........James Cameron

Best Picture - having given the directing award to Cameron, it wasn't the best movie i saw all year . sure it had the initial wow that was great from its visual power, but that soon wore off and you relaised how forgettable the plot was . one movie however has stuck with me ever since i saw it . it has changed the way i look at the world forever for the better . without a doubt, this Mooscar goes to..................Precious:Based On The Novel Push by Sapphire

Enjoy the Show!!

WOOOOOOOOT !!

I'm still happy about the gold medal hockey games last Sunday . you have to give the godless Americans credit . they played a heck of a game and they had the entire country holding their breaths after they tied the game in the dying minutes of the game and headed into overtime . it was a game for the ages . it must be a surreal thing for Sydney Crosby . as kids we all play sports and in our minds image ourselves as scoring the winning goal to win the big game . well Sydney did it and his big goal got him Olympic Gold . how cool is that ?

not too many sausages today.................

Pygmy Hedgehogs - Splish Splash

Home Sheep Home - a very cool flash time killer game . each sheep has its own personal bleating style
