today is the day most Canadians have been waiting for . the gold medal game in Olympic Hockey . the godless Americans rode a hot goalie en route to beating us in the round robin portion of the tournament, so now its time for our boys to erase the blemish and bring home the gold . our girls were up to the task and the country has tied a record for most golds in a single winter Olympics games, so c'mon lads , let's set the new record . GO CANADA !!

after handily beating the godless germans last night, tonight we face off against the mighty godless russians . this is the game everyone wanted to see as the gold medal game, but unfortunately the goalie for the godless americans stood on his head and won the game against us, despite their team being thoroughly outplayed . thats just how it is in the olympics . one hot goalie can take a meagre team all the way to the gold and the way this tournament has played out , the godless americans have a clear shot to the gold medal game as all the really tough teams are on the other side of the bracket . luckily we've changed up our goalie , so if we can just beat the godless russians and the godless swedes, we'll get there too .

thank god the sun has come out this week and quieted down all the foreign grumbling about the olympics . its not like vancouver planned to have the warmest winter in a hundred years so there would be little snow . with the nice weather ppl are going downtown and having a crazy fun time . i've been on site a couple of times now and the crowds are astounding . its wall to wall people with smiley faces and the city is sure gong to feel empty after next weekend when everyone goes back home . we have to enjoy it while we can

this morning i was downtown to see Stephen Colbert tape his show along with about 50,000 other people . i was amazed that the crowd was that huge . it was a fun time if you didnt mind standing in mud for 3 hours. his guests were michael buble, , bob costas and the captain of the 1980 american hockey team . i have some pictures and will post them after the olympics

after years of nonstop advertising on Canadian television, the games are finally here and the best thing about it so far is that the opening ceremonies weren't an embarrassment . besides, the torch malfunction at the end and the homage to fiddling homelessness, i thought the performers did a pretty good job . i especially loved the giant polar bear and the killer whales . that was pretty cool . now let's hope some canadian athlete will win us a gold medal on home soil . Go Canada !!

i'm starting to get into the Olympic Spirit . I even dragged my camera out of mothballs and it seems i haven't taken any pictures in over a year . if the battery still holds a charge, i may go out and take some photos & post them .

so the cable company calls up and offers us a free digital cable box to expand our coverage. i ask if its the same lame box that they offered us last spring which i returned because it didn't really offer us anything new . "oh no sir , now you'll be able to get all the high definition channels" . the box comes and its the same crappy box they sent us in the spring, except the picture is worse and we don't get any of the high definition channels . grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr I'm too peeved to phone them today, but mannnnnnnnnnI'm annoyed
