i'm not sure what the problems are . whether they are from the norton nis fiasco (i still dont have 2009 but they gave me a year and a half more of 2008) or if its the most recent windows update . i might even be a memory or context manager issue . whatever it is, its driving me batty . my computer is semi freezing with greater and greater frequency and i've tried everything i can to fix it and no luck so far . if i dont post for a while that may be the reason . lets just have some sausages and hope the probs dont get too bad before i can finally fix them..........

if you are thinking of getting your norton internet security updated to the 2009 version , you may wanna think again, i had norton NIS 2008 and at first it was good , but over the course of the year it became a bloated pig that really slowed down your computer . i was ready to give up on norton , but the reviews for the latest version, NIS 2009 , were supposed to address the problems i was having so i gave them one more shot .
yesterday, i uninstalled the old one and tried to install nis 2009 . 5 frustrating hours later , i had no anti virus whatsoever . after 2 failed attempts on my own, i was sent to norton support live chat and was "helped" by praveena.p , satish palaniappan & ravi ajjan . unfortunately , with each person i was passed onto , there knowledge grew less and less . they took remote control of my computer and had difficulty figuring out how to do the simplest of tasks . at one point ravi thought that initializing a program which required a restart , and doing it 4 times instead of clicking ok when the desktop appeared was a prudent choice . it was unbelievable . they had no clue . even the support chat software failed and if i hadnt turned on wordpad and started righting a letter while they were remotely running my puter , could we communicate at all . in the end they reinstalled my old nis 2008 and it didnt work anymore . there course of action ? telling me that someone would phone me within 2 days to help me and leaving me with no protection at all . never have i seen support service this terrible . luckily i was able to get it working on my own to a limited degree, but they had installed all kinds of sneaky files into my startup files and nothing worked until i removed them . these guys are just brutal .
i want to make one thing clear , i in no way want to imply that people with south asian names were the problem . these people were just incompetent and should not be employed at a support desk no matter what race creed or coulour they are . if you are shopping for security software (which is $30 cheaper to buy in a store than online ? go figure) . avoid Norton Security 2009 !! it doesnt work and the support is the worst i have ever seen and the remote assist spyware does not get removed when they log off you have to find it and delete it yourself . that is just evil . its spyware
