ahhhh its that time of the year again . a time to stuff our faces with good food and snacks . time to run around crowded shops and drive through streets clogged with inexperienced traffic . a time to cut down trees , wrap up gifties and anticipate whats under the tree .
as usual , i'm gonna take a break from all things puter until the new year

at long last and just in time for xmas , i have finally managed to post the long promised Water Bomber Gallery . these refitted Martin Mars WWII troop transport planes are located on beautiful Sproat Lake , BC . there is nothing on the planet that will extinguish a forest fire faster , yet for some unknown reason they receive no governmental support . in the old days , they used to be funded by all the major forest companies , but now only the nice folks at Timber West are keeping the operation going . lately , each year , rumours are rampant that this will be the last for the bombers . sadly one year this is going to be true . it will be a huge loss for the province and for the forests . lets hope ppl in government wise up and keep these 2 planes putting out fires for many years to come .
i posted a lot of pics of them , cuz there are a lot of plane enthusiasts out there who have asked for them . i'm not sure if they still are , but years ago they used to be in the Guinness Book of World Records as the World's Largest Flying Boat .
to keep it interesting , i combined several pics into a flight around the lake . it shows you just how beautiful it is on vancouver island
